Give UsMerry Christmas and happy holidays Bright Start Family. The scavenger hunt was great thanks to the collaboration of our neighbors. This was a fun and last event we hosted as tenants of Tyler Station. We appreciate your support this entire last year and we look forward to the next chapter of Bright Start Project.
We had a fantastic time engaging the community at the @dallasmuseumart Make Family Festival. Thank you @honeypot_design_co for building our new @lego table, an Art and Engineering project well use to inspire the next generation of makers.
We love merging Art and Technology especially when it empowers our children! Here is the first look at our LED Pins and Bluetooth speaker Kits. We will be hosting collaborative workshops that teach our youth how to use advanced tools while engaging their growing minds. We are available to bring these projects to your private or public events.
This weekend we introduced the community to something exciting. We challenged many families to play and learn with our circuit blocks. There are companies with products that introduce children to electronics but we are making it accessible and exciting. Our circuit blocks gave an overview but now it’s time we build Bluetooth speakers and wearable LED Pins. Thank you @candelariaandco @lamexmama @latinoculturalcenter for hosting the Día De Los Muertos festival and allowing us to engage our community!
Bright Start Project is excited to be apart of the Community Ofrenda Tour this year. Please come visit our space and learn about Día de los Muertos, a cultural tradition in which We chose to honor people of color in STEM fields.

It’s an amazing feeling to develop a space where families can create together. Every last Saturday of the month is becoming our FREE event for the community “LEGOs for the community y comunidad”. We started with LEGO challenges then built and painted piggy banks. #community #legos #oakcliff #dallas #communidad #stem #steam #art #family
Early this month we engaged families at @latinoartsproject, and a generous donation sponsored our impact. Every Sunday, the Latino Arts Project celebrates rich Latin American heritage by hosting free “Family Days,” honoring family interaction and education.
Legos are great for our children’s imaginations. We challenged our attendees to build and work together. Don’t miss our upcoming repeat of this event on September 28. It’s free, just rsvp using the get tickets button In our bio. Lastly we have to thank @kikos_view @re_creationstudiodallas for sponsoring the space for fundraising and these free events for the community.
Read our 2019 Summer Recap, link in bio. We want to give a huge Thank You to our prominent supporters this summer @marlathalia @nameismonique @eatingwith_ed @oakcliffdiy @lt_printing @fcbrewing @elevate_dtx @rsgartanddesign @kikos_view @re_creationstudiodallas .
We are the community. We have been the community ...before it was #trending #oakclifftx #oakcliffthatsmyhood #oakcliffyouth
Here’s a look at some of the tools we will use in our upcoming tool training workshop.
Bright start to a great summer!
Thanks to in-kind donations from @peaberrycoffeeoc and @tiadorasbakery we hosted a ☕️ Café y Conchas DIY string art and jewelry with Mom event via @oakcliffdiy. We have mentioned in the past that we will be hosting DIY projects, make and take craft events and private parties via @oakcliffdiy to fund and grow Bright Start Project. You can tap into your creative side by attending events @oakcliffdiy while supporting the growth of @brightstartproject .
Recently we spoke to an engineer that worked in the tele-com industry. He brought up just how much has changed in his lifetime. At the beginning of his career a computer took up rooms of space. Now he says there are whole spaces that used to be occupied with telecom equipment that are nearly empty because of the speed of invention and technological advancement. Makes us wonder what the next generation has up their sleeves. 💾💡📈

We feel very at home after our first weekend of events. Getting the space prepared couldn’t have happened without such a wonderful team. Thank you so much Volunteers! We want to give a huge thanks to @elpadrinodallas for sponsoring our lunch. We provided new experiences and ignited creativity without having to leave for lunch!
“The saying, "If she can't see it, she can't be it," speaks to the importance of introducing girls to female role models, especially in areas where women's accomplishments were often overlooked or minimized such as in science, mathematics, and technology. A new poster collection aims to bring more of these women's stories to light — and inspire today's Mighty Girls with the knowledge that she can be whatever she aspires to be!”
Experiences mold who we become. We must provide our children the experiences that convert dreams into reality one day at a time. Today we built a workshop table, next week it could be a go cart. Architect, electrical engineer, the list of career options expand with every experience. Have you signed up for our first kick off event yet?
Have you heard Raye Jean Montague’s story? Raye was an African American naval engineer credited with creating the first computer-generated rough draft of a U.S. naval ship. She was the first female program manager of ships in the United States Navy - and now there’s a book sharing her story with the next generation of little girls in STEAM.
Introducing the💡Bright Start Project’s LED lamp kit! Using a few tools learners will be able to assemble the kit at our kickoff event! Keep an eye out, event details to follow! 👀 // The Bright Start Project believes that we are all makers and have limitless possibilities as to what we can do through invention. Tinkering, problem solving, innovating. We encourage maker culture which fosters 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration and creativity. Here’s to growing Dallas’ next generation of makers!
